The Essex fairytale:-

The production used a trailer approach which hooks the audience very well if devised properly. Their main key technique was the use of a narrator; this technique really grabs the audiences’ attention both visually and by audio. The first shot was the main character with a mid-shot range to get the surroundings of the character. The entire trailer was in black and white which gave the trailer a classic effect. During the trailer there was use of props; mainly the gun which linked to the genre being a U.K gangster film. The clothing of the main character was well dressed in a suit which links back to the genre as well. The directors decided to use disequilibrium in the beginning; which was great to grab the attention of the audience. The trailer contained non-diegetic sounds for example the narrator and the theme song being played at the background.

The night has a thousand lies:-

The production used a trailer approach which hooks the audience very well if devised properly. Their key technique was the use of muti-strand narrative which involved the audience much more. They used the enigma codes which is great to keep involving the audience make them keep thinking ahead. Their also used non-diegetic sounds such as the narrator and the songs; which changed to the scene displayed. The directors deiced to use an equilibrium beginning so they controlled the amount information the audience receives and keep them guessing. Throughout the trailer the shots were mid range and long range shots to keep the background involved which linked with the scene.

The film poster ‘Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay’; is aimed at the promoting the release of the follow up of ‘Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle’.
Firstly, the use of colour on the characters’ clothing and the name of the film may connate that both characters end up in Guantanamo Bay prison; the background also connate they are locked up in prison. The use of colour in the poster is not only to connate the story also makes the poster stand out because of the bright orange clothing. The bright day sky and the brightly coloured prison clothes; all put together give a popping affect to people passing by.
There is a punch line ‘This time they’re running from the joint’; this has humour is indicates the theme of the film ‘comedy’. As the poster has no explicit material so this film could target all ages; however the primary audience could be teenagers; reason being is that to understand the comedy you would need certain knowledge linking to drug use.
The framing in the poster is placed in the middle to grab the attention of the audience; the characters are in the middle of the poster; this grabs the audiences’ attention indicating a follow up to the previous film. Underneath the characters’ faces lays the title and the punch line. This is in the middle to indicate the importance of the copy; also the copy colour is contrasting with the bordering colour (black/yellow).
The size of the copy compared to the image is significantly smaller; that can be due to the familiar characters faces. However the copy is helped by the contrasting copy colour compared to the bordering colour.
The type of shot is a medium shot that was because the characters’ clothing could be captured as well. This type of shot was probably taken to give a glimpse of the content of the film. This brought forward the subject matter which is the two characters ‘Harold & Kumar’; also as they are the main characters.
The setting is outdoors that is to show the background the Guantanamo Bay prison.
The lighting in the poster is bright that is to grab the people walking by attention with the bright background sky and the bright orange colour clothing.
The pose of the characters in the poster is grabbing the metal fence, this shows the character’s thought of trying to get out of the prison; also they are standing so that means that recently entered the prison.
